Trump Won. What do I do now?

What is in store for us? What will happen? What do I do now?

--

You probably have the very same questions I have since hearing the 2024 election results, and of the whirlpool of emotions, the strongest is likely confusion. Did we not learn from Trump’s previous administration? Are the people not aware of Project 2025? Or are they and they mostly, if not fully, support that greedy project? Do they really believe the promises the GOP made during their fear mongering campaigns? Are young adults that gullible? Is the urge for conservation of old time American patriarchal culture really that important to Latino men? Are there really women out there who don’t care about women’s health? Are there really people out there who hate immigrants so much that they’ll be surprised to see their best buddy who’s also an immigrant get evicted?

Yes. The answer to all those questions is ‘yes.’

There are always such people out there. Mind you, it’s not everybody, though.

What Do I Do?

What can you do? “Prepare for the worst, and the inevitable outcome will be less worse” is a philosophy I apply at times, and it’ll suit us for the next four years.

First of all, save money where you can. If you only watch a certain streaming service for one show, consider cancelling that subscription. Can you bike or carpool to work? This can save money on fuel. Figure out what works for you and save money. We’re going to need it.

Keep an eye on the news. Make a stand whenever the GOP does something horrifying, like the whole Roe vs Wade thing or suggesting to drink Lysol or the likes to fight off illnesses. And keep an eye out for that Project 2025 agenda they want to push.

Remain neighborly to each other. We all had our reasons to vote for the party we chose. Just because their political allegiance differs, does not automatically make them a bad person.

We’ll have a rough few years ahead of us. If you need help fighting off this depression, seek counseling or do what I do: fight depression with expression! Express yourself through words, actions, art, and hope might get survive.
