How I Got Over My Burnout

A long time ago in a country far, far away I got a burnout. I was working as a web designer for a small marketing and business company and as the years progressed I achieved higher rankings and responsibilities. I even ended up working as the only one working in three departments while also helping the other employees. This had led to anxiety, lack of personal care, and inevitably to burnout. If I had known then that the first step in prevention was to just talk to someone about it, things might have turned out better.

My Work

At the time I was working for the company for about five years. I started there as a junior web designer in a team of two — me and my supervisor — as part of a newly added department. There wasn’t much work to do yet, so I often helped out the other departments like direct mail fulfillment and graphic design. I had years of graphic design experience and one of the other employees was even an old classmate from secondary school. All this work was something I studied for, enjoyed, and came easy to me.
